Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. This test is used to monitor inflammatory reactions, such as infection, sepsis, lupus, or rheumatoid arthritis, as well as to evaluate diabetes, stroke, and cardiovascular disease, among other conditions.
